7 Things about us

1. WorkMonk as a company started in summer of 2011. Before that, we were running it without even realizing it that we are running it. We had clients, we had people, we were doing work but just never realized that we are running a company.
 

2. We believe in doing things differently at WorkMonk and following untraditional ways of getting things done. We will write our business plan once we have 10,000+ people working with us from home and we making a USD $100M revenue per year.
 

3. WorkMonk started by Pushkar in a Hotel Room in Bangalore, a 15 x 20 room, half of which was taken by the "bedbugs" infected double bed and we only moved to a proper office in September 2011 when the bank refused to open the company account saying they will not consider hotel address as company address (by the way, we already had over 1000+ people registered to us by then), so we moved out from the Hotel and took an office 50 meters away from the hotel. Our office is on one of the busiest road of Bangalore as we don't like to travel much. 
 

4. We work in different time zone and at odd hours, the development starts from 11 in the night and goes till 5 am, we sometimes go out on monday noon to buy office stationary and then work full sunday. 
 

5. We don't like pizzas and coke but enjoys idli/samosa/"chai"
 

6. We are always looking for good people who can work with us, If you have failed 1-2 course during graduation, your chances of getting hired will be much higher.
 

7. We believe, we all are different and special in some way and have our stories. Also there has to be a difference in the world - with you and without you.

Why the name WorkMonk ? 

Apparently all the good domain names are taken, in fact all the bad domain names are also taken! we wanted Work to be in the domain name and want a visual image to be attached to it, so after 3 days of brain storming, after making a list of thousands of domain names, we finally short selected WorkMonk.

What is WorkMonk ? 

WorkMonk is a virtual company where people work with us from their home. We are building lot of tools and are getting into various verticals and markets. There are already hundreds of people who are working with us, both on contract basis and on full time salary. We are a funded company and we do make profit. 

What Problem we are solving ? 

This space is not enough to list all the problems unfortunately. 

We feels the Mon-Fri 9 to 5 fixed salary model is not effective enough where everyone is giving bare minimum to have their jobs and it also lacks the challenge and opportunity. India also has a huge skilled work force and everyone can come to metros to join software companies so why not take the jobs to them! 

What is so special about WorkMonk ?
WM is a Funded startup with excellent mentors and investors. We are growing exponentially with clients and our virtual workforce and we have many things in the pipeline too which will change the way the long tail of work gets done as well as the way last mile of Indian skilled workforce work.
